David holds a Masters Degree in Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas, though his first degree aspirations were in Philosophy and later Japanese Language Studies.  He has held director, VP, and CTO positions in a number of software development and telecommunication companies.  He celebrates his 15th year with the company he founded in college as a way to escape wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase.

Spare time? Where do I sign up for that?

Do you have any nicknames?
Officially known as the "Duck" I'm certain that there are all sorts of names I don't know about.

How do you define success?
The ability to wake up everday, and ask yourself "Do I love what I am doing today?" And if you can immediately answer "Yes!" 9 out 10 times, you've attained it.

If you were going to Mars, what three things would you take with you?
My PowerBook, a high gain antenna, and a VOIP phone

What was your first experience with a computer?
Watching Oregon Trail crash on an Apple ][+ in the high school library -- I typed 'list' and met the man behind the curtain.

What do you like most about your job at BPSI?
One of my favorite personal quotes really is "Always get someone else to pay for your hobbies" -- That stated, I really enjoy being rewarded for taking "what if..." to "what is" for the staff and customers.

What do you like least about your job at BPSI?
Fighting with phone companies over bad billing -- honestly, it doesn't matter how good the sales rep is, the field engineers, the central office support is, the people in accounting can sour a relationship and spoil all good will that has been built up. Billing is a marketing opportunity, and companies tend to forget that.

Who do you think made the best Bond?
I kind of liked Roger Moore, though I cheered when Pierce Brosnan got the role. Something about Timothy Dalton just never set right with me -- I think it was either his stature, or the fact that he seemed to blink a lot, I dunno....

Name 3 movies that you watch most frequently.
Big Trouble in little China -- in my opinion the greatest action adventure film of all time
Joe Versus the Volcano -- a truly underrated existential film
Ground Hog Day -- also a fairly existential film for me

If you could live anywhere, where would you choose and why?
I think being a pilot on an island would be a nice career-2 option.

If you had one chance to travel in a time machine, where would you go?
I think I would like to see the hanging gardens of Babylon

If you could be any of the 7 main characters on Gilligan's Island, who would you choose to be and why?
The professor all the way -- smart enough to escape, but also smart enough to know he's got a good thing going.

We've perfected time travel. Sort of. We shoot you off but don't exactly know when or where on Earth you are going to end up. The travel capsule lands in a wooded area near a wide dirt track. There's no habitation in sight. What do you do?
Look for signs of horses -- after all they appear to be the universal constant.....
